Training is about building a relationship, not just obedience. You'll discover how to shape your dog's behavior using positive, clear, and consistent communication that builds confidence, trust and better focus. This method results in a dog that willingly engages in training sessions, enabling them to problem solve and learn without fear of negative repercussions. WEEK 1: Overview on how dogs learn and the 10 core principles on building a willing partner WEEK 2: Learn how to effectively communicate your expectations to your dog WEEK 3: Teach your dog to engage their brain WEEK 4: Increase attention and focus WEEK 5: Build trust and respect In this class, you'll discover how to communicate effectively with your dog through clear commands, the right tone of voice, body language, and the energy level that suits your dog. The first session will be dog-free, as we go over how dogs learn and communicate, laying the groundwork for effective training techniques. Each of the next four sessions will feature exercises aimed at enhancing your dog's ability to make smart choices, boosting their focus on you and the tasks you set for them, fostering enthusiasm for training, and responding to your commands. This will help build a trust that strengthens the bond between you and your dog. These skills will create a strong foundation for you and your dog to successfully explore other classes like obedience, rally, agility, trick training, scent work, and any other activities you want to enjoy together. Prerequisite: successfully completed puppy class or basic manners class. Dog should be able to sit on command, know their name and come when called. All exercises will be on leash.
